HISTORY

By Frater Marax

Once, long ago, in the days before the advent of the I.H., two brothers were part of a small organization, but there was a foul rot eating away at this group, from the stench of which the brothers sought to distance themselves. Thus, they formed a branch of this group, that proper teaching might be given to those who wished to receive it. Also, at this time, they initiated their first student. A brother, who shall remain nameless, as shall all those who are a part of this tale.

The three then set forth on the construction of a temple in which to perform the Great Work. As chances would have it, one from the core group chose to assist in this construction and, in no great amount of time, he too sought to join with the brothers, bringing their number to four. The temple completed, these four brothers began in earnest to proceed with their work, with the strength of what they were creating at the core.

Quickly, they came to realize that as a limb is but an extension of the trunk, they could not fully escape the foulness of the main body to which they remained attached. With their own inherent strength however, they fought against this ill influence and persevered.

In the fullness of time, two others from the mother group, seeing what the brothers had created, sought to join with them. And so, a sister, and another brother were added bringing their number to six.

This new brother, however, quickly proved to have embraced the foulness from which he spewed forth, and was intent only on the spread of this infection. He soon returned to the fold of his mother, leaving behind not the damage he sought, but the certainty that the only way the branch could prosper was through the necessity of amputation. So it was decided; the branch would be severed to spare itself from succumbing to the rot to which it was attached.

In the fertile ground of its five founding members the I.H. was formed, rooted, and began to grow. In time it began to bear fruit, and a vault of adepts was born therein.
